1. Do I have to live in Canada to participate?

YES. All participants must reside in Canada to participate in SAY IT LOUD!

2. What age do I have to be to participate in SAY IT LOUD!?

You must be 14 -29 yrs old to participate in SAY IT LOUD! If you are making a team/group submission as long as someone is 14-29 yrs old it’s ok

3. Do the judges have expertise in the various submission categories.

There will be at least one judge with expertise in each of the categories. Some judges may have expertise in more than one category.

4. If someone under 18yrs old is selected to represent their submission in Ottawa at the SAY IT LOUD National Black Youth Summit 2021 will a parent/guardian be required to accompany them?

YES. Anyone selected to represent their submission under 18 yrs old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over 18 yrs old.

5. How do I register to participate and make a submission?

To register and make a submission go to the attached link

6. May I compete in more than one category?

You may make submissions to more than one or all categories. Our goal is to increase opportunities and avenues for Black youth to showcase their skills.

7. How is it determined if I get to represent my submission at the SAY IT LOUD National Black Youth Summit 2021?

Submissions that will be presented at the SAY IT LOUD National Black Youth Summit 2021 will be determined by a combination of voting on Instagram, a review committee and social media analytics. Visit the submissions page to see the judging criteria to improve your chances of presenting at the SAY IT LOUD National Black Youth Summit 2021.

8. When will I/we know what submissions made it to the SAY IT LOUD National Black Youth Summit 2021?

Those chosen to represent at the SAY IT LOUD National Black Youth Summit 2021 will be notified after the submission closes. Submissions will be accepted to July 31, 2020

9. What are the submission categories?

(STEM) Science Technology Engineering Mathematics, Social Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Design, Literary, Performance, Visual and Culinary Arts are the submission categories

10. What cities can we find SAY IT LOUD! in?

SAY IT LOUD! has local community Stakeholders in the following cities/communities: Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Durham Region, Toronto, Peel Region, Hamilton, Windsor, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. If you don’t live in a city listed no problem, choose the closest city to you and rep your region!
